TETIAROA (Tay-tee-ah-roh-ah) - 17°S 149°35'W
Located about 30 miles north of the island of Tahiti, this island is best
known for its famous owner, Marlon Brando. About 30 people live here
and there is one hotel, the Hotel Tetiaroa Village. The hotel was
extensively damaged during the hurricaines of 1983. Most visitors to this
island do so on day excursions from Tahiti or Moorea. Don't expect to
see the actor there. He rarely visits.
MAIAO (My-ah-oh) - 17°40'S 150°38'W
Located about 72 miles west of Tahiti, Maioa has almost no tourist
activity. The island population is about 220 people, with 7 villages. It is
small with no airport. Travel to and from the island is by sea.
MEHETIA (May-hay-tee-ah) - 17°53'S 148°04'W
This island is located about 94 miles east of the island of Tahiti. It is
the only uninhabited island of the windward group.
