MAUPITI (Mah-oo-pee-tee) - 16°27'S 152°15'W
This island is located about 30 miles west of Bora Bora. It has a
population of about 960 people and there is an airport on the island.
While it is not a popular destination for tourists, there is one hotel and two
pensions located on the island.
TUPAI (Too-pie) - 16°15'S 151°50'W
Tupai is about 10 miles north of Bora Bora. It is about the same size
as Maupiti. It has an airstrip, but few (if any) full-time residents.
MAUPELIA, MANUAE, and MOTU ONE
(Mah-oo-pay-lee-ah, Mah-noo-ah-ay,
Moh-too oh-nay)
These are small, mostly unihabited islands located about 100 miles west
of Bora Bora. They are at the extreme west end of the Society
archapelago.
